This weekend we celebrated Oliver's 9th birthday! We had a small outdoor party in Fish Creek Park for Oliver and some of his close friends, and of course, I took a few photographs... here are a few of my favourites :)

This year we decided to do an outdoor survival and wilderness theme for Oliver's birthday party. We had an instructor come from Kaykima Wilderness to teach the kids... Can't recommend them enough, Rob was so good with the kids! First, kids learned how to build a shelter using natural materials found in the area in an emergency survival situation.

Oliver had so much fun exploring in the forest and collecting some sticks! :)

I was sceptical at first, about what these little kids can do, but their shelter turned out great!

Kids also learned how to start a fire.

With newly learned skills of the fire making, Oliver was able to start a fire pit for the party :)
