Some of my friends and I spent a day at the Banff National Park. We went out for our first monthly photo club meeting. I didn't take any photos that I really liked, but we had great time talking about photographs and had a very nice lunch at a Greek restaurant.

I had a short photo shoot with a nice family this morning. We had some shots done outside of their house and by the fireplace. Here are a few of my favorites.

This evening I headed to Mount Royal College to cover a couple of volleyball games. Cougars played against Red Deer College and both men and women Cougars teams won.
I purchased a new Canon 1D Mark III not a long time ago and I think I maybe having some problems with autofocus. I have a tournament coming up next weekend and I'm trying to decide if I should use my new camera or use my Canon 1D mark II. Today I used both cameras for these games and tried to compare the results. Mark III did better with colors, was easier to use the bigger LCD screen and I think they both focused equally, so I'm pretty sure I will use Mark III for my upcoming ringette tournament.

Today I was outside scouting some possible locations for my future weddings and portrait photo shoots. It got dark much faster than I was expecting this evening, so I didn't see very much but I think I found at least a couple of good locations.

November 5, 2007

I didn't take any photographs today, but I updated my page a little. I finally started the separation of my Weddings gallery. I will add more photographs there soon, but for now you can take a look at it in my Galleries section.

I had a photo shoot scheduled this morning but in the morning we had some fresh snow and photo shoot got rescheduled. Because I was always working lately, I decided to go to the zoo and take some photographs for myself. It was snowing a lot but I had a great time.

We had my parents over for dinner tonight.

November 2, 2007

It was a very good game tonight. Mount Royal College Cougars girls team played against University of Calgary Dinos. In the beggining of the second period Cougars scored 3 goals in 5 minutes, and at the end defeted Dinos 3-1.

I played around with Showit Web today and made my first slideshow with photographs that I took at the Scorpions concert on September 10th. I was planning to implement some slideshows like this in my "Events" section in the future. This is my first ever slideshow, so I think in the future they can only get better.

November 1, 2007

Today I had to make a quick stop at Mount Royal College and take the last photo for Media Guide cover. This last shot if of 3 different sports combined all in one magazine: golf, badminton, and soccer.

I may be sick tomorrow from eating too much candy! Yesterday was our first Halloween at our new house. We were not sure how many kids we will have and bought a bunch of chocolate bars. But yesterday we only had 25 kids come to our door.. only 25! Yesterday evening we had nice weather also. Well I'm not really complaning, I love chocolate, so I will be happy for awhile.

October 31, 2007

Happy Halloween everyone!!!
Feel free to stop by our house, we have lots of candy to give away!

Mount Royal College Cougars girls soccer team won the ACAC Championship Final against Concordia Thunder.
Above you can see #2 Kim Kuiper, of Mount Royal Cougars, scoring the only goal of the game at the end of the second half.

Tonight we did our family traditional pumpkin carving (my pumkin, actually mine is a squash, is the tall and skinny one).

October 27, 2007

I did some photographs for Intramural Sports, an organized recreational sport league program.

October 26, 2007

Tonight was a home game opener for the Mount Royal College Cougars basketball teams against Madicine Hat Rattlers. Boys dominated the game and won 97-48. Girls won 79-45.

I found a little test today, where I found out I'm 68% addicted to blogging. I guess I'm not as addicted as some people out there.

Prints Charming, a custom picture framing and fine art poster store. A couple of days ago I had a job to photograph the interior of the store and this evening I finished up the job with a couple of shots on the outside.

October 24, 2007

Its been a busy/stressful evening for me. I had to take a team photo of the hockey team and a portrait shot of two hockey players for the cover of a guide. I only had 15 min on the ice time dedicated for the team photo so I had to work fast, but the team was much bigger than I anticipated. We didn't have enough benches, so we had to move to the side of the rink and try to form 4 rows, using boards, instead of the usual 3 rows. In the process my light stand was dropped, light was smashed, umbrella was broken, and my hood on the strobe was bent. All and all, not my best team photo but with the time line and with all what was happening it will have to do.
Portraits got moved to a later time because of a delay and couple of unscheduled shots so I only had a chance to take one shot with one pose... here is what I ended up with.

Mount Royal College girls volleyball action.

October 21, 2007

I had to take some photographs to show off the interior of the Prints Charming, a custom picture framing and fine art poster store (1409 - 11 St SW, Calgary) today. Please visit their web page if you would like to find out a little more information about the store.

October 19, 2007

Mount Royal College Cougars against NAIT Ooks. MRC won 4-2.

October 18, 2007

Shot some badminton action at Mount Royal College this evening. It was hard to photograph just a practice and not a tournament or an actual game, but I think I got a few good shots.

October 16, 2007

It's my birthday today, and what am I doing? Working! Which isn't a bad thing by any means :) Today I had to take some shots for the cover of a magazine at Mount Royal College. I still have to do a couple more shots, but these are the 2 I liked. It didn't all go very smoothly, I was panicking for a bit, I had to fight the light for about 20-30 min before I got the white balance right and all the other details

October 14, 2007

I spent my day at the Prince's Island Park photographing models for their portfolios. The weather was great and I had lots of fun.

October 13, 2007

Very busy day for me. I spent my day at Mount Royal College today, five games in total.

October 11, 2007

Winter is fast approaching so I decided to take a couple of shots of our deck. If you go back to May 6 in my blog you will see what it started as. It's still far from being finished but at least I can have people over for a BBQ once in awhile.

September 30, 2007

The winter is coming and I think we only have couple of weeks left for some yellow and red colors. Some of my fellow photographers and I (I'm the one in the green jacket) went to The Banff National Park for a day to capture some of the beauty. Here you can see some of the shots from this trip.

September 29, 2007

Couple of photographs from my photo shoot with Kalyn Gilbert in Prince's Island Park.

September 24, 2007

Today was a Team photo day at Mount Royal College. I had to take a team photo for every sport and also take an individual head shot of every athlete.

September 23, 2007

I covered my first Mount Royal College soccer game this season. It was pretty cold and I didn't have any gloves, so by the end of the second game I couldn't really view any images that I took because I was barely able to press the release button with my frozen hands and really couldn't do much else. I love soccer so it was great to see some good action. Girls won 10-0, so that was a very interesting game to watch. MRC boys also won 2-0.

September 22, 2007

ACAC South Regionals at Olds.

September 21, 2007

Christine had some photographs done in my studio today for her portfolio.

September 16, 2007

Couple of photos from a wedding I did at Kananaskis Village today.

September 10, 2007

Scorpions at Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
I had a chance to photograph Scorpions in concert this evening. It was always one of my favorite bands so I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure who was the opening band but they really only had one or maybe two good songs, and the rest ... well lets just say they didn't impress me much.
I came from Belarus and Scorpions are very popular and famous in my country, they are mostly famous for their ballads.
I listen to Scorpions a lot but never even see a video of them, so it was great to finally see them live! I can't say this was the best concert I ever been to but I liked it and it is for sure one of my favorites.
I created a small gallery in my Events section with some of my photographs from the concert, please feel free to take a look. Also their new CD, "Humanity - Hour 1" is great!

The weather today couldn't be any better for this job. I was hired to photograph a Mount Royal Classic golf tournament at Pinebrook Golf and Country Club. It was very nice to spend the day outdoors on a nice golf course.

September 7, 2007

My friend Greg and I stopped at Calgary International Airport with hopes to get some shots of the British "Tornado" jets, they were in Calgary for sometime now doing some air maneuvers. As you can see from the photos, we were not very lucky.

Georgie on our couch.

September 1, 2007

Just found a few minutes and took my truck out in a field to take some photos.

August 26, 2007

Today Tracy and I spent a day offroading in our new Range Rover. It was a rainy day so it was nice and muddy. The Land Rover dealership in Calgary organized this event and we had 19 Land Rovers in total on the trail today. It was great to get out and test what this truck can do, and it can do a lot!

We had a couple of LR2's that didn't make it all the way and one older Freelander had to go back because it over heated. Overall it was a nice and easy trail and the Range Rover did very good, even with street tires and no off road modifications.
